| Thai Yoga Massage Thai Yoga or Nuad Bo Rarn is the traditional massage of Thailand and originated in India during the life of the Buddha, over 2500 years ago. Originally practiced by monks, Thai Yoga is one of four areas of Thai medicine: nutrition, herbs and meditation being the other three. Thai Yoga is performed on a floor mat without oils, using a mixture of assisted hatha yoga stretches, acupressure points, massage and meditation to release tension, stimulate internal organs, improve flexibility and stimulate the flow of energy (Prana). This energy, which exists in all things, flows within us along a network of energy channels (nadis or sen lines), of which there is said to be at least 72,000. The Thai Yoga Practitioner works on 10 key Sen lines : Sumana, Ittha/Pingkhala, Kalathari, Sahatsarangsi/Thawari, Lawusang/Ulangka, Nanthakrawat/Khitchanna. The aim is to bring about a balance of energy flow to harmonize the mind, spirit and body. Thai Yoga Massage is suitable for everyone, young or old. However, it should be avoided if you have spinal or bone conditions, for example osteoporosis, laminectomies/discectomies, bone or lymphatic cancers, artificial joints or you are in your 1st Trimester, and you should consult your GP if you have high blood pressure or heart conditions. If in doubt always check first with your medical adviser. |
